Installation Procedure

  1. If necessary, install the generator shield and bolts.
  2. Install the generator to the engine.
  3. Lower the engine using the support fixture.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
    5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Install the engine mount lower nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).

  6. Install the generator lower bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the generator bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  7. Install the battery positive lead (2) and the generator BAT terminal nut (3) to the generator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  8. Install the BAT terminal boot.
  9. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the generator.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the generator upper bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the generator bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  12. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture for the 2.8L (LP1) engine, or Engine Support Fixture for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  13. Install the drive belt to the generator. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Generator and Water Pump for the 2.8L (LP1) engine, or Drive Belt Replacement - Generator and Water Pump for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
