Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: Clean the fuel connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting the lines in order to avoid possible contamination.

  1. Remove the fuel fill cap.

  3. Remove the fuel tank filler housing to body TORX® screws (1) and retainer (2).

  5. If necessary, remove the spare tire stowage lock cylinder.

  7. If necessary, remove the spare tire.

  9. Remove the fuel tank filler housing to fuel tank fill pipe screws.
  10. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  12. Open the rear axle vent hose clip at the fill pipe and remove the vent hose (2).
  13. If necessary, remove the air suspension hose at the fill pipe.

  15. Remove the ground wire harness bolt.
  16. Remove the ground wire and fill pipe ground strap.

  18. Disconnect the vent hose quick connect fitting at the fuel tank. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  19. Loosen the fuel fill pipe clamp (1).
  20. Remove the fuel fill pipe bracket bolts (2).
  21. Separate the fuel fill pipe hose from the fuel tank.
  22. Remove the fuel fill pipe and vent hose.
  23. Cap the open end of the fuel tank to prevent system contamination.
