Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Cadillac Seville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 .
  2. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
  3. Remove the passenger carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Replacement - Front in Interior Trim.

  5. Lift up the carpet and insulation in order to access the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).

  7. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (3) from the SDM harness connector (2).
  8. Disconnect the SDM harness connector (2) from the SDM (1).

  10. Remove the SDM (6) mounting bolts (1).
  11. Remove the SDM (6) from the floor (2).
