Installation Procedure

Position the battery negative cable to the engine.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the bolt securing the battery negative cable to the engine block.
Tighten: Tighten the battery negative cable to engine block bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Connect the cable harness clip to the coolant inlet pipe.
Install the starter shield. Refer to Starter Shield Replacement (LA3, LY9) or Starter Shield Replacement (LY7) .
Lower the vehicle.

Install the bolt (1) securing the battery negative cable to the side rail.
Tighten: Tighten the battery negative cable to side rail bolt to 36 N.m (27 lb ft).
Connect the body harness connector (3) to the battery negative cable.
Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
