Camshaft Position Sensor: Installation

NOTE: Inspect the CMP sensor "O" ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the "O"ring.

Lubricate the "O" ring with clean engine oil. Install the CMP sensor. Tighten the CMP sensor retaining bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector. Operate the engine and inspect the CMP sensor for engine oil leaks.



  1. Inspect the CMP sensor "O" ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the "O" ring. Lubricate the CMP sensor "O" ring with clean engine oil. Install the CMP sensor and retaining bolt. Tighten the retaining bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Reconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector. Install the surge tank outlet hose.
  2. Install the accumulator tube into the vehicle. Connect the accumulator tube to the accumulator. Tighten the fittings to specification. Connect the accumulator tube to the evaporator. Tighten the fittings to specification. Connect the electrical connector to the low temperature sensor. Recharge the A/C system. Leak test the fittings
