Cruise Control Diagnostic System Check

Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to communicate with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool communicates with each module, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with each module, perform TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH C under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for IPC. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS -- SEVILLE article.
Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs for EBCM. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for PCM. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair cruise control system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays any DTCs, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS table.
