Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Perform POWER SEAT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
  2. Install a scan tool. Turn ignition switch to ON position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe CURRENT parameter in MSM data list. Activate seat switch in both directions for each directional motor. If CURRENT parameter displays greater than 81 amps, go to next step. If CURRENT parameter does not display greater than 81 amps, problem is intermittent.
  3. Disconnect suspect motor connector. Activate suspect motor switch in both directions. Using scan tool, observe CURRENT parameter. If CURRENT parameter displays greater than 81 amps, go to next step. If CURRENT parameter does not display greater than 81 amps, go to step  5 .
  4. Check motor control circuits of suspect motor for short to ground. If problem was found, repair wiring as necessary, and then go to step  9 . If problem was not found, go to step  6 .
  5. Check suspect seat motor connector for poor connections. If problem was found, repair connector as necessary, and then go to step  9 . If problem was not found, go to step  7 .
  6. Check MSM connector for poor connections. If problem was found, repair connector as necessary, and then go to step  9 . If problem was not found, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace suspect seat motor. See SEAT MOTORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle. If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
