DTC B1970: Exterior Light Power Fault: Testing

  1. If lighting system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If lighting system has not been performed, go to LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove parking light relay and headlight relay. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Disconnect PZM connectors. Using DVOM, check resistance between ground and parking light relay terminal A6 (White wire) at trunk compartment relay center No. 5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step  4 .
  3. Replace PZM. See PLATFORM ZONE MODULE (PZM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair short to ground in White wire between parking light relay and PZM. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS article. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. Reconnect all components. Clear DTCs using scan tool. Turn ignition on. Turn headlights on. If headlights do not come on, go to step  2 . If headlights come on, system is functioning normally.
