DTC U1255: Class 2 Initialization Error

  1. Perform DATA LINK COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM CHECK. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. Go to next step.
  2. Install scan tool and monitor CLASS 2 serial data. Pull on and wiggle harnesses containing class 2 wire (Purple wire). Harnesses run between all control modules in vehicle. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If scan tool indicates problem with class 2 data, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate a problem with class 2 data, go to step  4.
  3. Repair class 2 serial data line (Purple wire) for open, short or bad connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to next step. If problem still exists, perform DATA LINK COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM CHECK. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Clear any DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) . If all DTCs are cleared, perform DATA LINK COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM CHECK. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If all DTCs are not cleared, go to appropriate DTC diagnostic and repair procedure.
