Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communications with vehicle. If scan tool communicates with vehicle, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with vehicle, go to BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  2. Attempt to communicate with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. If scan tool communicates with RKE module, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with RKE module, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE  .
  3. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in RKE module. If any current RKE DTCs are present, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DTCs  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If no DTCs are set, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
