Lumbar Functions Inoperative On One Side

NOTE: This diagnostic procedure is for vehicles with lumbar support in both front seats. For vehicles with memory seat functions, go to MEMORY SYSTEM article.
  1. Perform LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Use test light and backprobe between ground and suspect lumbar switch connector terminal "E" (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  3. Check for open in Red wire between splice S311 and S352 (driver's side) or S356 (passenger's side). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 7).
  4. Check for open in Black wire between splice S313 and S351 (driver's side) or S357 (passenger's side). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 7).
  5. Replace lumbar switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, go to LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  6. Repair open in Orange wire between suspect lumbar switch connector and S306. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair is complete, go to LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  7. Repair suspect wiring. Recheck operation, go to procedures in LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
