Pcm Code E26, Shorted Throttle Switch CKT: Action

PCM turns on SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. PCM assumes throttle switch is closed if brakes are applied and TPS is less than 18 degrees. PCM assumes throttle switch is open if brakes are not applied or if TPS is greater than 18 degrees.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. If PCM does not detect throttle switch has opened or closed, Fuel Data Center (FDC) will display E.7.2. Repair as necessary.
  2. When PCM detects switch opens and closes, FDC will alternately display E.7.2 and 00.
  3. Checks for high TPS voltage. Check TPS or TPS circuit.
  4. If TPS and TPS circuit are okay, check PCM. Before PCM is replaced, perform PFI CHART C-1, PCM REPLACEMENT CHECK.
