CONDITION/CONCERN
Some customers may comment on a service parking brake message on. Technicians may find that C0561 symptom byte 71 is set in the electric park brake module. The code may either be active or in history. This code can intermittently set with Symptom Byte 71 while turning the key off and will go to History on next key crank once communication between the ECM and EPB has been re-established.
RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS
Diagnose any other current DTCs first.
- Turn the ignition ON, ensure C0561 symptom byte 71 is in History. If C0561 symptom byte 71 is Active, refer to SI for diagnosis
- Ensure DTC isn't set due to an intermittent concern by confirming communication between EPB and ECM and repair as appropriate following SI diagnostics.
- If communication is established between EPB and ECM and no intermittent concerns are identified, DTC set intermittently during 'ignition off' and no further action is necessary to resolve this concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
