Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir as necessary. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  2. Remove the power steering pulley as necessary. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement .

  4. Install the power steering pump to the engine.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the power steering pump retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pump retaining bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the wiring harness to the power steering pump.
  8. Install the antilock brake wiring harness bracket.

  10. Install the right outer tie rod (1) to the steering knuckle (2).
  11. Install the outer tie rod retaining nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the outer tie rod retaining nut to 30 N.m (22 lb ft) plus 180 degrees.

  13. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  15. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36) or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  18. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
  19. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
