Installation Procedure

  1. Position the generator on the engine.
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the generator mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 50 N.m (37 ft. lb.).

  3. Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
  4. Connect the positive lead and install the generator output BAT terminal nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the generator output BAT terminal nut to 12.5 N.m (111 in. lb.).

  5. Press the protective boot on to the generator output BAT terminal.

  6. Install the generator brace and fasteners.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the generator brace nut to 50 N.m (37 ft. lb.).
    • Tighten the generator brace bolt to 25 N.m (18 ft. lb.).

  7. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36) or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  9. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Top Post) .
