Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Buick LeSabre. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a special length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation. The use of a longer bolt will damage the radiator end tank.
  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower pads.
  2. Install the condenser to the radiator.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the A/C condenser mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  4. Push the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler pipes into the radiator quick connect fittings, until a "click" is heard.
  5. Tug gently on the cooler pipes to ensure proper retention.
  6. Slide the plastic caps (1) over the quick connect joints.
  7. Install the cooling fans. Refer to Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric .

  8. Install the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt to the lower tie bar.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the upper and lower radiator hoses to the radiator using the J 38185  .
  10. Connect the coolant recovery hose to the radiator neck using the J 38185  .
  11. Install the upper tie bar. Refer to Tie Bar Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.

  12. Install the upper radiator seal.
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  14. Inspect the transmission oil level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure in Transmission/Transaxle.
