Test B: Memory Recall Position Inaccurate

  1. If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, see DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Ensure personalization function is enabled. If personalization function is not enabled, enable it. Turn ignition on. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to your preference. With the memory switch, set the personalization recall to your adjustments. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to an extreme position. Press the memory button that was previously programmed. If mirrors do not return to setting, go to next step. If mirrors return to setting, check for intermittent problem.
  3. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe both the vertical sensor and horizontal sensor parameters in the driver door module data list. Operate suspect mirror to the limits of travel in both the vertical and horizontal directions. If scan tool does not indicate .5-4.5 volts for both sensors, go to next step. If scan tool indicates .5-4.5 volts for both sensors, go to step  8 .
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the C4 harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Turn ignition on. Check for 5 volt reference at door module harness connector C4 terminal No. 6 (Dark Blue wire) for the inoperative mirror. If 4.5-5.5 volts is present, go to next step. If 4.5-5.5 volts is not present, go to step  10 .
  5. Using scan tool, check both the vertical sensor and horizontal sensor parameters in the driver door module data list. If 4.5-5.5 volts is present, go to next step. If 4.5-5.5 volts is not present, go to step  10 .
  6. Connect fused (3-amp) jumper between door module harness connector C4 terminals No. 4 mirror sensor return circuit (Brown wire) and No. 7 horizontal sensor signal circuit (Light Blue/Black wire). Using scan tool, observe horizontal sensor parameter. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal No. 7. Connect fused (3-amp) jumper between door module harness connector C4 terminals No. 4 mirror sensor return circuit (Brown wire) and No. 6 vertical sensor signal circuit (Green wire). Using scan tool, observe vertical sensor parameter. Disconnect jumper wire. If 0-0.5 volt is present at both readings, go to next step. If 0-0.5 volt is not present at either or both readings, go to step  10 .
  7. Inspect for poor connections at outside rear view mirror harness connector. If no problem is found, go to step  9 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  11 .
  8. Inspect for poor connections at outside rear view mirror harness connector. If no problem is found, go to step  10 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  11 .
  9. Replace inoperative outside rear view mirror. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace inoperative door module. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  11. Recheck system operation. If no problem is found, test is complete. If problem is found, go to step  2 .
