DTC B2240-B2242 Memory Function Switch Circuit Short To Ground: Testing
- If power seats system diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If system check was not performed, go to POWER SEATS SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check the memory function switches parameter in the DRIVER DOOR MODULE data list. If scan tool displays IDLE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display IDLE, go to step 4 .
- Using scan tool, observe memory function switches parameter. Press suspect memory function switch. If memory function switches parameter does not change state, go to next step. If memory function switches parameter changes state, check for intermittent problem.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-pin memory function switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check memory function switches parameter. If scan tool does not display IDLE, go to next step. If scan tool displays IDLE, go to step 7 .
- Test the appropriate memory switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Memory 1 circuit is White wire between memory function switch terminal "A" and driver door switch assembly connector terminal No. 3. Memory 2 circuit is Purple wire between memory function switch terminal "B" and driver door switch assembly connector terminal No. 2. If no problem is found, go to next step. If any problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Inspect for poor connections at driver door switch assembly harness connector. If no problem is found, go to step 8 . If any problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the memory function switch. If no problem is found, go to step 9 . If any problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace the driver door switch assembly. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace the memory function switch. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Clear the DTCs using the scan tool. Check system operation. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, test is complete.
