Memory Seat Module Motor Control

Memory Seat Module (MSM), controls movement of all 4 seat directional motors and 2 lumbar motors. All seat motors operate independently of each other. Each motor contains a electronic circuit breaker that resets only after voltage has been removed from motor.

All motors are reversible. When seat switch is operated to move entire seat forward, battery voltage is applied to through entire seat switch and power seat horizontal forward switch signal circuit to MSM. In response to this signal, MSM applies battery voltage through driver seat horizontal motor forward control circuit to horizontal motor. Motor is grounded through driver seat horizontal motor rearward control circuit to motor. Horizontal motor drives entire seat forward until switch is released. Moving entire seat rearward works similarly to moving entire seat forward, except that battery voltage and ground are applied on opposite circuits causing motor to run in opposite direction. All other seat motors are also powered this way.

MSM provides each seat motor with a soft stop and will stop motor just before physical end-of-travel for that motor. This decreases stress on each motor. If a motor reaches end-of-travel due a soft stop and seat switch is released and then activated again, seat will move a short distance farther, toend of physical travel.
