Test A: Scan Tool Does Not Power Up
- Check for open or short to ground at Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 16 (Orange wire). See Fig 1
. If problem is not found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair Orange wire between DLC and ALDL fuse (10-amp) as necessary. ALDL fuse is located in rear fuse block. See Figure
. After repairs, perform appropriate diagnostic system check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Check for open in Black wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and ground. Ground point is located at lower right corner of passenger side pillar. If problem is not found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, perform appropriate diagnostic system check. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK

- Check for poor connections between scan tool and DLC terminals No. 4 and 16. Perform procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause an intermittent malfunction to appear. If problems is not found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary.
