Test H - EBCM/EBTCM/Wheel Speed Circuit Input

  1. Turn ignition off. Ensure wheel speed sensor connector terminals are connected. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM terminal connector. Connect Pinout Box (J-38716). See Figure .
  2. To test individual wheel speed sensor, measure resistance between pinout box pins No. 28 and 46 for left rear wheel speed sensor, pins No. 27 and 45 for right rear wheel speed sensor, pins No. 29 and 47 for right front wheel speed sensor, and pins No. 30 and 48 for left front wheel speed sensor. Resistance between the respective pins should be 800-1500 ohms.
  3. If resistance in any one of the sensors is greater than 1500 ohms, check for open in wiring, and check in-line connector and wheel speed sensor connector for proper terminal contact.
  4. If resistance in any one of the sensors is less than 800 ohms, check for short between suspect wheel speed sensor wiring.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and pinout box pins No. 45, 46, 47 and 48. Resistance should be greater than 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, check suspect wiring for short to ground and repair as necessary.
  6. If all measurements are correct, check EBCM/EBTCM connector for proper terminal contact. If terminal connector is okay, replace EBCM/EBTCM assembly. After all repairs are complete, clear codes, and repeat ABS/TCS functional check. See Figure .
