Code 41 - Right Front Solenoid Valve Fault

With ignition switch in RUN or START position, EBCM applies battery voltage to valve relay. EBCM will complete an internal self-check before providing ground to relay. When valve relay is energized, battery power is supplied to solenoid valves.

EBCM may command right front solenoid valve in brake pressure modulator to 3 different positions. Valve position is determined by amount of current which is allowed to flow through solenoid coil.

Code 41 will set when expected position of right front solenoid valve does not match commanded position from EBCM. Conditions which could cause Code 41 to set are damage to right front solenoid, open circuit No. 827 and short circuit to ground or battery on circuit No. 827.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Checks resistance of right front solenoid valve circuit.
  2. Checks for short to ground in circuit No. 827.
  3. Checks for a short to battery voltage in circuit No. 827.
  4. Checks for connector or wiring problems which may cause an intermittent condition.
  5. Uses Tech 1 to check right front solenoid operation.
  6. Determines whether code is set by an intermittent condition or an EBCM fault.
  7. Determines if problem is caused by brake pressure modulator or problem in wiring.
  8. Determines whether problem is an open circuit No. 827 or a short from circuit No. 827 to circuit No. 1077.
