Code E038: Brake Switch Circuit

The ECM monitors status of brake switch circuits through ECM terminal BC4. Code E038 will set under the following conditions:

• Code E024 is not present.
• Vehicle speed has been greater than 35 MPH and back to zero MPH, 22 times.
• Status of circuit No. 420 has not changed state from high to low.

Test Number 1)  This step checks for battery voltage available for circuit No. 420.

Test Number 2)  Checks fuse, switch and circuit for battery voltage.
