Code B335, Loss Of ECC Serial Data (Riviera)
This code can only be displayed as a "History" code, indicating an intermittent problem. The code cannot be displayed as "Current" because this would mean the problem is present now, and if the problem were present, diagnostics could not be entered to read codes out. Code B335 will set if the ignition is on and the BCM is not able to exchange data with the CRTC. If the problem was presently occurring, the "SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK" chart would address the problem. Most likely, the ECC controls for heating and A/C will also be inoperative when the loss of serial data occurs. If this code ever appears, the operator may indicate the CRT automatically flips to a radio function page. This intermittent problem would be caused by 2 opens in the data circuit, one on either side of the CRTC isolating it from the BCM or the CRTC.
If Code B335 is set as "History", along with any of the following codes set as "History"; B334, B336, B337, B552, B553 and/or EO47, see MULTIPLE INTERMITTENT CODES chart.
This code is used for history reference only. If customer complains of CRT monitor flipping from whatever page he is on to radio function page, check for poor terminal contact at CRTC terminal No. C-5 and D-6. Also check for intermittent opens in circuits No. 800G and 800F. If customer complaint is CRT monitor intermittently going blank with this code stored, check for poor terminal No. C-1 at CRTC or terminal No. C-4 at CPS. If okay, check for intermittent open in circuit No. 812B. Code B553 would also be stored in this case.
When all diagnosis and repairs are completed, clear codes and verify operation.
