In-Car Temperature Sensor

This sensor is located under the upper trim cover. To be accurate, a small amount of in-car air is drawn into the sensor housing and over the thermistor. The air movement is accomplished by using an aspirator mounted on the top of the HVAC module.

Airflow from the HVAC module creates a slight vacuum at one end of the aspirator. This vacuum draws in-car air through the temperature sensor housing. The resistance value of the sensor is sent to the BCM and used in climate control calculations.
