SERVICE INFORMATION
Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves G05, G07, G20 and G29 models produced from August 2018 to March 2019.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
SITUATION
A software error intermittently causes a continuous resetting of the microcontroller in the power management system. This causes the red Check Control Message (CCM) "Replace Battery" to be illuminated.
CAUSE
Software error in Dual Storage System Battery
CORRECTION
Reprogram battery with Flash Tool or replace battery if red CCM is illuminated.
PROCEDURE
- Is the red CCM ID 2152 stored to replace the DSS battery?
Yes: Replace 10 Ah Lithium Ion battery as per repair instructions REP RA6121004.
No: Proceed to next step.
- Make sure the key is off and connect the battery charger to the vehicle.
- Remove the right rear engine compartment cover.
- Obtain the flashing tool with adapter cable.
- Remove the 4-pin connector from the battery and connect the 4-pin adapter from the tool.
- Connect the power and ground from the tool directly to the battery terminals.
- Place the flashing tool away from any engine heat.
- Once connected, the flashing tool amber LED (Pwr & Status) will be lit up.
- Press the start button and the amber LED will flash indicating the DSS battery is being programmed.
- After about 10-20 minutes the OK LED turns green indicating a successful programing.
- If the Error LED lights up red, refer to the troubleshooting guide that came with the tool.
- Remove the flashing tool and connect the 4-pin vehicle harness back to the battery.
- Reinstall the battery cover.
