CVM: Convertible-top module

The convertible top module (CVM) is the central control unit for all soft top functions. The convertible top module controls all the electric and hydraulic functions of the soft top.

The convertible top module is connected at the K CAN2. This means that Information such as the ambient temperature and driving speed is received via K CAN2. On opening and/or closing the soft top, the convertible top module sends a signal to the Car Access System (CAS). The Car Access System is the master control unit for the power window regulator. The Car Access System sends CAN messages to activate the footwell module (FRM) as well as the junction box electronics (JBE). The signal serves as a request to open or close the side windows. The rear-window drive that opens and closes the rear window activates the convertible top module directly.

The convertible top module is installed on the inner right side wall near the partition wall to the luggage compartment. Under certain blocking conditions, the convertible top module cannot execute a convertible top movement (see 'SYSTEM FUNCTIONS ').
