Functional description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

There is a direct connection between the fuel consumption and the carbon dioxide emissions (CO2). The less fuel consumption, the less carbon dioxide emissions. For particularly efficient engines the coolant expansion tank can be shut off.

The coolant shutoff valve is a solenoid valve. The engine control activates the coolant shutoff valve via a pulse-width modulated signal. The coolant shutoff valve closes upon activation.
