ActiveE: Software Update RS 17/17.5 - Customer Relevant Changes 

SITUATION

Some noticeable, customer relevant changes to the vehicle's behavior have been introduced with programming software levels RS 17 and 17.5.

INFORMATION

Two primary software improvements have been introduced with RS 17/17.5. These improvements may be perceptible to the customer, and in some cases could be misinterpreted as a vehicle malfunction. The changes are:

• Optimized HV charging capabilities - As a result of the optimization of the vehicle charging strategy, the auxiliary fan will now run between 10% - 45% of its maximum speed while the vehicle is charging. This change will improve the cooling capabilities of the KLE, and thus the effectiveness of the vehicle charging.
• Range display accuracy - The accuracy of the vehicle's remaining range displayed when in ECO PRO mode has been improved. Since the range is more accurate, there will be slightly less remaining range displayed as compared to the readings of the same vehicle programmed with the previous software version (e.g. RS 16). This does not reduce the actual driving range of the vehicle.

Do not attempt any repairs  of the ActiveE, if such complaints are voiced by your customers. Rather, explain and accentuate the positive nature of the software changes as a commitment to a continuous quality improvement process.

Also, make sure to discuss and inform the customer about software changes prior to programming, in case the RS 17/17.5 update is required.
