A/C Compressor

  1. Turn ignition on. Turn temperature regulating selector to coldest setting. Turn A/C switch on and listen for A/C compressor clutch to click on. If no click is heard, go to next step.
  2. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, check for voltage at single-wire connector leading out of compressor. If voltage is present, replace compressor clutch. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate COMPRESSOR SERVICING. If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  3. Check for blown fuse No. 14, damaged wiring or connectors, an open high pressure switch (located in receiver/dryer), or an open or faulty suppression diode (mounted on compressor). If any conditions described are not found, go to next step.
  4. Test evaporator regulator and evaporator temperature sensor. See EVAPORATOR REGULATOR  and EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR  .
