Locking Cable: Installing: Adjusting
Locking cable must be adjusted in the installation position.
-- Loosen bolt -1-.
-- Turn ignition switch to "ON" position.
-- Secure locking cable bracket in installation position at front of selector lever housing.
-- Place feeler gauge -A- (1.5 mm) between locking flap and locking pin.
-- Adjust locking cable by sliding in direction of arrow until locking pin is lightly pressed against feeler gauge.
-- Tighten bolt to 10 Nm (7 ft lb) in this position.
-- Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position and to "ON" position several times.
-- Check dimension between locking pin and locking flap again.
Specified value: 1.2-1.7 mm
-- Move selector lever into position "N."
-- Install locking cable at selector lever housing.
-- Make sure that locking cable is routed without kinks.
-- Fasten locking cable to heater housing using cable clip (arrow).
Function testing
-- Move selector lever into position "P" and turn ignition key to "OFF" position:
- Selector lever must be blocked in "P"
- It must be possible to remove ignition key
-- Turn ignition key to "ON" position and shift selector lever to position other than "P", turn ignition switch toward "OFF" position, press selector lever down and move to position "P", keep selector lever pressed down and move it back to position other than "P" :
- It must not be possible to remove ignition key
