Bolts And Nuts
- Loosen the bolts opposite the tightening sequence.
- Tighten the bolts or the nuts in steps to secure the covers and housings according to the specified tightening sequence and methods.
- Bolts or nuts which secure covers and housings should be loosened and tightened diagonally and in steps if no tightening sequence is specified.
- Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
- If not otherwise specified: clean the threads of the bolts which were installed with locking fluid with a wire brush. Then insert the bolts with fluid locking compound. Refer to the Parts Information.
- If self-locking bolts were installed or if regular bolts were installed with locking fluid, then the threaded holes must be cleaned, for example with a thread tap. If the holes are not cleaned, then the bolts could break off the next time they are removed.
- Tightening specifications for non-lubricated bolts and nuts are given.
