ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Insert the : VAG1869/2  -A- between the brake pedal and driver seat. Pretension the brake pedal at least 60 mm.

NOTE:

By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Risk of skin irritation and injury.

- Wear safety gloves and protective eyewear.

-- Remove the cap -3- from the bleeder valve -1- on the respective brake caliper.

-- Attach the bleeder hose -2- from the bleeder bottle to the bleeder valve for the left front brake caliper.

-- Open the breather valve.

-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose -1- to the left rear brake caliper breather valve.

-- Open the breather valve.

-- Push the brake pedal at least 60 mm using the : VAG1869/2  .

-- Close the left front and left rear bleeder valves.

-- Do not remove the : VAG1869/2  .

-- Place enough lint-free cloths under the ABS Control Module -J104- and the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-.

-- First, mark both brake lines -2- from the brake master cylinder and remove from the hydraulic unit.

-- Seal the threaded holes immediately with the plugs 5Q0 698 311.

-- Seal the brake lines with suitable plugs from the : VAS6122  or the dust caps from the bleeder valves.

-- Label and remove the remaining brake lines -1-.

-- Seal the threaded holes immediately with the plugs 5Q0 698 311.

-- Seal the brake lines with suitable plugs from the : VAS6122  or the dust caps from the bleeder valves.

-- Release and remove the connector -3-.

-- Make sure that no brake fluid enters the control module connector housing.

-- Free up the wire.

-- Immediately seal the threaded holes with clean plugs -2- from the Assembly Part Set: 5Q0 698 311  .

-- Carefully pull the ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- -1- off of the pins on the bracket -3- and remove.

-- If necessary, remove the bolt -4- and the bracket -1-.
