Windshield, Removing And Installing: Installing

-- Prepare the undamaged window glass for installing. Refer to UNDAMAGED WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

Cover Profile, Mounting on Undamaged Windshield:

-- Before installing the new cover profile, remove the rest of the old one -2- from the windshield -1- using a commercially available glass scraper.

TIP:

The rest of the old glass adhesive bead -3- serves as an installation marker for the new cover profile.

-- Prepare the new window glass for installation. Refer to NEW WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .

-- Insert the windshield into the window opening using two suction lifters and align it on the sides.

A4, A5 Coupe and A5 Sportback: distance from window edge to roof frame -item ) OVERVIEW - WINDSHIELD, A4, A5 COUPE AND A5 SPORTBACK - List Item: Windshield.
A5 Cabriolet: distance from window edge to roof frame -item ) OVERVIEW - WINDSHIELD, A5 CONVERTIBLE - List Item: Windshield.
Secure the window to the top of the roof with adhesive tape.

-- Equipment versions with windshield defogger: establish the connection for the windshield defogger and secure on the ground cable.

-- First remove the protective molding from the frame before installing the plenum chamber cover. Refer to Figure.

Observe minimum curing times. Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIMES FOR BONDED WINDOWS .

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

Depending on the version, the following additional procedures are required:

-- Versions with driver assistance systems front camera: recalibrate the camera. Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FRONT CAMERA, CALIBRATING .

Note the conditions here for a required calibration of the driver assistance systems front camera.

-- Versions with windshield projection (head up display): calibrate the windshield projection head up display control module. Refer to WINDSHIELD PROJECTION HEAD UP DISPLAY CONTROL MODULE -J898-, CALIBRATING .

Note the conditions here for a required calibration of the windshield projection control module.
