Hybrid Module, Removing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Suspension Device: T10557 
• Support: T10556 
• Holding Plate: VW309A 
• Engine and Gearbox Bracket: VAS6095A 
• Shop Crane: VAS6100 
• Puller - Grease Cap: VW637/2

-- Shorten both bolts to dimension -b-, for example with a metal saw.

• Dimension -b- = 40mm

-- Debur the end of the bolts.

-- Turn the spacer sleeve -2- to the end of the bolt and back to remove any shavings.

-- Spay the bolt ends with rust protection.

Procedure: 

-- Turn off the vehicle in the P position.

• The 1st and reverse gears are engaged by putting the vehicle in P. The transmission shafts are locked as a result.

-- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING .

-- Secure the : T10557  on the transmission flange -arrows-.

• Tightening specification 30 Nm.

-- Remove the transmission fluid cooler, loosen the hose clamps -1 and 2- and remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Seal the opening on the transmission with plugs.

-- Loosen the nut -1- and remove the parking lock lever -2-.

-- Remove the high-voltage cables. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Vehicles with a Pressed in Cap:

-- Remove the lower cap.

• The cap cannot be removed without destroying it.

-- Use a screwdriver and hammer to create a hole in the center of the cap.

-- Pry out the cap using the : VW637/2  .

Vehicles with a Bolted Cap:

-- Remove the bolted cap. Refer to BOLTED CAP, REPLACING .

-- Mount : T10556/2  -A- at the holes for the transmission mount -arrows-.

• Alternate installing the bolts to avoid tilting the plate.
• Tightening specification: 50 Nm

-- Secure the : T10556/1  -B- to the : VW309A  -C- and install in the holes for the transmission fluid cooler -arrows-.

• Tightening specification for M8: 30 Nm.
• Tightening specification for M12: 50 Nm

-- Attach the hook from the : VAS6100  to the eyelet of the : T10557  , lift the transmission vertically and secure it to the : VAS6095A  .

-- Loosen the bolts on the flange.

-- Slowly lift the hybrid module using the : VAS6100  .

• The parking lock shaft can tilt slightly. If necessary, use a plastic mallet to loosen by lightly tapping on the housing.

-- Storing hybrid module: a second technician turns the hybrid module with the transmission flange in the direction of the storage area.

-- Slowly lower the hybrid module.

-- Place a suitable wooden block or foam support underneath so that the hybrid module is positioned evenly.
