4. Check the Ignition Key Lock (vehicles with an ignition key lock)

1. Check 4.:

-- Insert the key into the ignition lock.

-- Start the engine.

-- Move the selector lever into "D/S".

• The vehicle is standing.

-- Turn off the ignition and leave the key inside the ignition lock.

Specified Values

• "P" must engage automatically and immediately (without moving the selector lever).
• "P" must appear in the instrument cluster and in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-, -2-.

2. Check 4.:

-- Insert the key into the ignition lock.

-- Start the engine.

-- Move the selector lever into "N".

• The vehicle is standing.

-- Turn off the ignition and leave the key inside the ignition lock.

-- Open the driver door.

Specified Values

• The following message must appear in the instrument cluster: "Vehicle can roll away. Transmission not in P".
• A warning tone will also sound.

-- Remove the key.

Specified Values 

• "P" must engage automatically and immediately (without moving the selector lever).
• "P" must appear in the instrument cluster and in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-, -2-.

If the specified values are not obtained:

-- Make sure the selector lever handle is installed correctly. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
