Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-, CHECKING

Function

The Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- controls guide vane adjustment in the turbocharger with an electric positioning motor. Electric initialization makes quick turbocharger response and precise regulation possible. To adjust the guide vanes, the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- is initialized by the Engine Control Module -J623- using a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) signal.

Switch OFF all electrical and electronic accessories
Vehicles with Auto. Transmission, ensure Selector Lever position is in "P".
Vehicles with Man. Transmission, ensure Shifter Lever position is in "N" with Parking Brake applied

3	REMOVE: Engine Control Module - J623-. Refer to appropriate service information. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 5 to ground for voltage. SPECIFIED VALUE: 5 [V] (+/- 0.4 V) -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: GO TO: Step 4 -- NO: GO TO: Step 5
4	REMOVE: Engine Control Module - J623-. Refer to appropriate service information. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 3 to ground for resistance. SPECIFIED VALUE: 0.5 Ω (± 0.3 Ω) -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: GO TO: Step 5 -- NO: REPLACE: Engine Control Module - J623-. Refer to appropriate repair information. GO TO: Step 6
5	REMOVE: Engine Control Module - J623-. Refer to appropriate service information. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 1 to the Engine Control Module - J623- harness connector terminals T91 / 40 for resistance. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 2 to the Engine Control Module - J623- harness connector terminals T91 / 23 for resistance. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 3 to the Engine Control Module - J623- harness connector terminals T105 / 58 for resistance. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 4 to the Engine Control Module - J623- harness connector terminals T105 / 78 for resistance. CHECK: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- harness connector terminals 5 to the Engine Control Module - J623- harness connector terminals T105 / 57 for resistance. SPECIFIED VALUE: 0.5 Ω (± 0.3 Ω) -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: REPLACE: Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-. Refer to appropriate repair information. GO TO: Step 6 -- NO: CHECK: wiring for open, high resistance, short or electrical connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals REPAIR: faulty wiring or connector GO TO: Step 6
6	Final Procedure Perform a road test to verify repair. Do any DTC's return:	-- YES: Check the DTC memory. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODE 03 - READ DTC MEMORY . Perform the diagnostic procedure for that DTC. -- NO: Repair is complete, Generate readiness code. Refer to READINESS CODE . Return vehicle to Customer
