ATF System Overview

NOTE: Coat O-rings and seals with ATF. Other types of lubrication lead to faults in the transmission hydraulics.

  1. ATF pan
  2. Seal
    • Replace
  3. ATF Filter
  4. O-Ring
    • Replace
  5. Bolt
    • Tightening specification and sequence for Mechatronic without a hydraulic pulse memory. Refer to Fig 3.
    • Tightening specification and sequence for Mechatronic with a hydraulic pulse memory. Refer to Fig 4.
  6. Mechatronic
  7. O-Ring
    • Replace
  8. O-Rings
    • Replace together with the ATF pipe -item  12-
  9. Seals
    • Replace together with the connector housing -item  10-
  10. Connector housing
    • Replace
  11. Bolt
    • 5.5 Nm
  12. ATF Pipe
    • Replace
  13. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  14. O-Ring
    • Replace
    • Present depending on the date of manufacture
    • For connecting the hydraulic pulse memory
  15. Hydraulic Pulse Memory with Accumulator Solenoid -N485-
  16. Bolt
    • Present depending on the date of manufacture
    • Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 5
  17. Magnets
    • Make sure the entire surface contacts the ATF filter
    • Clean before installation
  18. Bolt
    • Replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 2
  19. Oil Drain Plug

NOTE:

Replaced the bolts for the ATF pan.

Pay attention to the installation instructions, refer to OIL PAN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Tighten the bolts in three steps in the sequence shown:

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -1 to 12- Install the new bolts by hand until the bolt heads touch
2. -1 to 12- 4 Nm
3. -1 to 12- Tighten 45° further

-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm in the following sequence: -1 to 19-.

NOTE: If the transmission has a pulse memory, then the bolt -17- is installed at the same time the pulse memory is installed, refer to Fig 4.

-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm in the following sequence -1 through 17-.

-- Install the hydraulic pulse memory -A-, refer to Installing .

-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm in the following sequence: -18 to 21-.

NOTE: The bolts -18, 19 and 20- secure the hydraulic pulse memory.

-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm in the following sequence: -1 to 3-.
