Kick Down Switch, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine/transmission hoist VAG1526A
Engine/transmission hoist VAG1594A

Pry off covers using a screwdriver.

Remove bolts (- arrows -) and remove cover for kick down switch.
Disconnect electrical harness connector.
Connect multimeter at kick down switch for resistance measurement.

Specified value: ∞ Ω (no continuity)

Move accelerator pedal slowly in direction of Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

Shortly after kickdown point, resistance must drop to 0 Ω

If indications do not resemble description:

Replace kick down switch → Kick Down Switch, Removing and Installing .
Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM) → Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory .
Generate readiness code → Readiness Code, Generating .
