Front Final Drive

  1. Drive vehicle a short distance to warm up gear oil to about 140°F (60°C). Raise and support vehicle. Ensure vehicle is level. Turn engine off and let gear oil settle to bottom of case for 2 minutes.
  2. Place drain pan under final drive. Remove fill plug (arrow) on side of final drive. See Fig 1 .

  3. If necessary, remove heat shield and input shaft from transmission, to gain access to bolt. Gear oil level should be at lower edge of fill hole. Add appropriate fluid as required. See RECOMMENDED FLUID  . Install fill plug with NEW sealing ring. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
