Shift Linkage Mechanism: Adjusting
Special tools: T10027, retaining pin. See Fig 1.
NOTE:
The following points are essential to ensure correct selector adjustment.
- Moving parts of selector mechanism and transmission elements must be in proper condition.
- Selector mechanism must move freely.
- The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.
- Transmission in neutral position.
- Disengage retainers for gear selector cable and gate selector cable as follows: Push back collar -1- as far as it will go in direction of arrow -2-. See Fig 2. Turn collar -1- as far as it will go in direction of arrow -3- and allow it to engage.NOTE: The selector cable -4- must be free to move within the retainer. See Fig 2. The illustration shows the gate selector cable. The retainer on the gear selector cable can be disengaged in the same way.
- Secure the selector shaft as follows: Press transmission shift lever -1- in direction of arrow -A- downward into shift gate No. 1 and 2 gear while pressing locking pin -2- in direction of arrow into transmission until it engages. See Fig 3. This locks the selector shaft in place and it can no longer be moved.
- Remove gear shift knob -1-. Remove bolts -2-. See Fig 4. Lift off retainer ring -3- and boot -4-.
- Now secure shift lever in place as follows: Guide shift lever in neutral position to the left into gate No. 1 and 2 gear. Secure shift lever inside vehicle with T10027 special tool. Use retaining pin T10027 to lock gear lever in position. See Fig 5.
- Make sure that gate selector cable -1- and gear selector cable -2- are properly inserted in their retainers -3- and are not under tension. See Fig 6. Turn each collar -4 as far as it will go in direction of arrow, then release. The spring presses the locking mechanism into normal position.
- Pull locking pin -2- back into rest position (direction of arrow). See Fig 7. Pull retaining pin T 10027 out of selector mechanism. Install cover for gear shift. Screw knob onto gear shift. Install gear lever knob and boot.
