Removal And Installation
NOTE:
If a NEW Security Gateway (SGW) module is being installed, use the diagnostic scan tool to flash the module. Failure to flash the module will leave the SGW module in a locked mode preventing SGW module operation.
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the Radio/Entertainment Telematics Module (ETM). Refer to MODULE, RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT TELEMATICS, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Working on the inside of the instrument panel storage bin opening, remove the three nuts (2a) securing the Security Gateway Module (SGM) (1c) to the mounting bracket.
- Reposition SGW (1c) and disconnect the wire harness connectors (1a, 1b) then remove the SGW from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- Inspect the SGW module housing and connector pin integrity.
- Position SGW (1c) into the instrument panel storage bin, then connect the SGW module wire harness connectors (1a, 1b) to the SGW module.
- Install the three nuts (2a) and tighten securely.
- Install the Radio/Entertainment Telematics Module (ETM). Refer to MODULE, RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT TELEMATICS, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- If a NEW SGW module is installed, use the diagnostic scan tool to flash the SGW module.
