2.9L - Secondary

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the wheelhouse brace. Refer to BRACE, WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the middle air cleaner tube. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the hood. Refer to HOOD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  7. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the secondary Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

  8. Disconnect the engine wiring connector (1) and release it from the PCM mounting bracket.
  9. Open the retaining clip (2) and release the wiring.

  10. Remove the lower nut (1) securing the secondary PCM mounting bracket.

  11. Remove the upper nuts (1a, (1b), and the secondary PCM (1c) with bracket.

  12. If necessary, remove the screws (1a) and the bracket (1b) from the secondary PCM.

INSTALLATION

  1. If removed, install the bracket (1a) on the secondary PCM and tighten the screws (1b).

  2. Install the PCM (1a) and securely tighten the nuts (1b) and (1c).

  3. Install the lower nut securing the PCM mounting bracket and securely tighten the nut (1).

  4. Connect the engine wiring connector (1) and engage it to the PCM mounting.
  5. Engage the wiring and close the relative clips (2).

  6. Connect the secondary PCM wire harness connectors (1).
  7. Install the hood. Refer to HOOD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the middle air cleaner tube. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the wheelhouse brace. Refer to BRACE, WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Connect the diagnostic scan tool and perform the PCM programming procedure. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
