DESCRIPTION
The Chassis Domain Control Module (CDCM) is located in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.
ALFA ACTIVE SUSPENSION (AAS) is an electronic system fitted on the vehicle.
The system continuously monitors the damping of the suspensions through the actuator installed on each shock absorber. This way, the calibration of the shock absorbers can be adjusted to the conditions of the road surface and to the dynamic conditions of the vehicle, improving its comfort and road holding.
The AAS is managed by the CDCM. The system consists the following components:
- Two front vertical acceleration sensors on the strut towers;
- Two vertical acceleration sensor located on the two front suspension;
- Four variable calibration shock absorbers controlled by solenoid valves located inside the shock absorbers.
The function is enabled in the ignition ON position and if there is a speedometer signal.
Two suspension calibrations can be selected using the Dynamic, Natural, Advanced Efficiency (DNA) switch: a more sporty setting or a more comfortable setting. The system prepares to work with a shock absorber calibration which favors driving comfort. In these conditions, a "SOFT suspensions" indicator appears on the instrument panel display.
The CDCM is equipped with a self-diagnosis function which detects and stores Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the control unit. If a DTC sets, a warning light is illuminated on the display.
