Removal And Installation: Removal
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbags, airbag curtains, knee blocker, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS)/negative battery cable assembly from the negative battery post, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Remove the remote radio/speed control switch assembly screws (1).
- Using a trim stick or equivalent, lift up on the switch assembly (3) releasing the retaining tabs (1) and disengaging the retaining clips (2) from the steering wheel. Verify when lifting the switch assembly from the steering wheel not to damage the steering wheel.
- Carefully pull the remote radio/speed control switch assembly (1) away from the steering wheel to gain access to the rear of the switch assembly.
- Carefully disconnect the wire harness connectors and remove the remote radio/speed control switch assembly.
- Remove the speed control switch screws (1).
- Carefully release the speed control switch retainers (3) from the perimeter of the switch, and remove the speed control switch (2).
