Liftgate Open Message

OVERVIEW

This bulletin involves inspecting the liftgate switch for binding and if necessary replacing the liftgate switch bezel.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before May 30, 2018 (MDH 0530XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION

The customer may notice that the Liftgate switch binds due to the interference between the switch and the bezel.

DIAGNOSIS

If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the liftgate switch. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT under: Service Info 08 - Electrical/8N - Power Systems/Power Liftgate/Switch, Full Open/Removal.
  2. Release the retainers and separate the switch from the trim.
  3. Replace the liftgate switch bezel (Fig. 1)  .

  4. Install the liftgate switch. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT under: Service Info 08 - Electrical/8N - Power Systems/Power Liftgate/Switch, Full Open/Installation.
    NOTE: During the Repair Procedure the battery was dis-connected. Follow the instructions in the Battery Connection Procedure that apply.
  5. Reconnect the battery and follow battery connection procedure. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT under: Service Info 08 - Electrical/8F - Engine Systems/Battery System/Standard Procedure> Battery Connection Procedure.
