DTC Troubleshooting: P0A94(3.0L Engine): Inspection

DC_STS Shorted Wire Inspection

NOTICE:

Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

Test Procedure

Preparation
- -
  DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected
- -
  PCM connector B (72P): disconnected

Procedure
- -
  Perform the inspection according to the following table.
  
  Refer to the Open/Shorted Wire Inspection Description for the method to inspect the shorted circuit below, then start to inspect according to circumstances.

Results

If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

+B_VST1, +B_VST2, V6_DC_PGND Circuit Inspection

Test Procedure

Preparation
- DC-DC converter connector B (5P): disconnected

Procedure
- Perform the inspection according to the following table.

+B_VST1 circuit inspection	OFF		12 V battery voltage [circuit type 1]
+B_VST2 circuit inspection	OFF		12 V battery voltage [circuit type 1]
V6_DC_PGND open wire inspection	OFF		There is less than 1 Ohm

Results

If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.
If the power supply inspection of the above table showed abnormally, do the additional Power Supply Inspection , to locate the failure.

DC-DC Converter Inspection (Output Circuit)

NOTICE:

Check if any aftermarket parts are connected on the +B_DC1_OUT1 circuit and the +B_DC1_OUT2 circuit.

Preconditions

NOTE: This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.

External circuit is normal

Test Procedure

Procedure
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Confirm the HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 1] and the HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 2].

Normal Conditions
- The HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 1] and [DC-DC Converter Output Error 2] values are Normal.

Results

If abnormal, there is a problem with DC-DC converter output circuit.
NOTE: If the DC-DC converter output circuit is normal, replace the DC-DC converter.

DC-DC Converter Inspection (Internal Circuit)

NOTE: Since there is no direct method to test the component itself, troubleshooting is performed on the related components.

Preconditions

External circuit is normal

Test Procedure

Procedure
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Confirm the parameter of the HDS following items:
  HDS [DC-DC Converter Cst Error]
  
  HDS [DC-DC Converter Input Error 1]
  
  HDS [DC-DC Converter Input Error 2]
  
  HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 1]
  
  HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 2]

Normal Conditions
- All of the HDS [DC-DC Converter Cst Error], [DC-DC Converter Input Error 1], [DC-DC Converter Input Error 2], [DC-DC Converter Output Error 1], and HDS [DC-DC Converter Output Error 2] values are Normal.

Results

If it is normal, there is a problem with the DC-DC converter.
If it is abnormal, there is a problem with other related components.

DC-DC Converter Inspection

NOTE: Since there is no direct method to test the inspection item, troubleshooting is performed using a known-good component.

Test Procedure

Install a known-good DC-DC converter and attempt to reproduce the failure.

Results

If the failure is reproduced, there is a problem with other related components.
If the symptom/DTC goes away, the DC-DC converter must be faulty.

PCM Inspection

Test Procedure

If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.

Results

There is a problem with the PCM.
