EVAP Canister Purge Valve Component Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation

    EVAP canister purge valve 2P connector: disconnected

• Procedure
• • -

    Perform the inspection according to the following table.

			(Disconnected) EVAP canister purge valve 2P connector male terminals
		IG Mode	Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.	Normal Conditions
	Valve internal circuit inspection	OFF		About 23 - 26 Ohm (at room temperature)

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the EVAP canister purge valve.

EVAP Canister Purge Valve Functional Inspection (Open Stuck) 

Preconditions 

• External circuit is normal

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• • -

    Engine coolant temperature: less than 131 deg.F (55 deg.C)

• Procedure
• • Disconnect the vacuum hose (purge line) (A) from the EVAP canister purge valve (B) in the engine compartment, then connect a vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg (C), to the EVAP canister purge valve as shown.
  • Start the engine and let it idle.
  • Check the vacuum pump/gauge with idling.

• Normal Conditions
• • -

    There is no vacuum.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the EVAP canister purge valve.

IGPS(PCS) Circuit Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• • -

    EVAP canister purge valve 2P connector: disconnected

• Procedure
• • -

    Perform the inspection according to the following table.

			(Disconnected)EVAP canister purge valve 2P connectorfemale terminals

	IGPS(PCS) circuit inspection	ON		12 V battery voltage [circuit type 3]

Results 

• If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.
  NOTE: If the power supply inspection of the above table showed abnormally, do the additional Power Supply Inspection , to locate the failure.

PCS Circuit Inspection 

NOTICE: 

Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    PCM connector E (80P): disconnected

• Procedure
• • -

    Perform the inspection according to the following table.

			(Disconnected)EVAP canister purge valve 2P connectorfemale terminals	(Disconnected) PCM connector E (80P) - Refer to: PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs(3.0L Engine) or PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs(2.0L Engine) female terminals

	PCS open wire inspection	OFF			There is less than 1 Ohm
	NOTE: Refer to the Open/Shorted Wire Inspection Description for the method to inspect the shorted circuit below, then start to inspect according to circumstances.
	PCS shorted to ground inspection	OFF			Not shorted

Results 

• If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

PCM Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the PCM.
