CKP Sensor Circuit Connectors Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure

    Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:

    CKP sensor

    PCM

• Normal Conditions
• • -

    Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.

CKP Sensor Circuit Terminals Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
• • -

    Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:

    Engine ground

    Body ground

• Normal Conditions
• • -

    Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.

CKP Pulse Plate Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• • -

    CKP sensor: removed

• Procedure
• • -

    Visually inspect the CKP pulse plate for looseness or damages.

• Normal Conditions
• • -

    There is no looseness or damages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the CKP pulse plate.

CKP Sensor Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Install a known-good CKP sensor and attempt to reproduce the failure.

Results 

• If the failure is reproduced, there is a problem with other related components.
• If the symptom/DTC goes away, the CKP sensor must be faulty.

PCM Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the PCM.
