DTC Troubleshooting: P00FE(2.0L Engine): Inspection

Fuel Vent Tube Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
• • Insert the emergency fuel funnel to the fuel filler neck.
    NOTE: The emergency fuel funnel is stored in the tool box.
  • Disconnect the fuel vent tube (A) from the fuel tank unit.
  • Disconnect the fuel vent tube (B) from the EVAP canister (C), then connect the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg (D) to the fuel vent tube as shown.
  • Apply vacuum to the fuel vent tube.

• Normal Conditions
• • The fuel vent tube does not hold vacuum.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the fuel vent tube.

Fuel Vent Tube Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• • Fuel tank: removed

• Procedure
• • Check for a excessive bend, foreign object clogs, or restrictions at the fuel vent tube.

• Normal Conditions
• • There is no excessive bend, foreign object clogs, or restrictions.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with fuel vent tube.

EVAP Canister Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
• • Disconnect the fuel vent tube (A) from the EVAP canister (B).
  • Connect the hose (C) to the EVAP canister fuel vent tube port (D), then connect the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg (E) to the hose as shown.
  • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
  • Apply 1.3 kPa (0.4 inHg, 10 mmHg) of vacuum to the hose.

    NOTICE: 

    Be careful not to exceed the vacuum. If you do so, the FTP sensor can be damaged.

  • Confirm the HDS [FTP Sensor].

• Normal Conditions
• • HDS [FTP Sensor] changes.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the EVAP canister.

Fuel Tank Vapor Control Valve Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining fuel tank is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the fuel tank.
